I have this model and it is a fantastic tool, really powerful. One other negative point is that the battery drains really quickly in continuous use. I find that I need to recharge the battery everyday. Strange that Samsung did not find a solution for that problem.

Hello! I’ve bought this laptop few days back now.

So here’s a hands on review… :p

I’ve got the same model as you’ve reviewed, only without the graphic card. I bought it for less than Rs 30k VAT included.

So,

Pros:
Powerfull CPU… Sandy Bridge CPU is awesome!
Great graphics quality
Loads of ports including USB 3.0, HDMI, eSATA, etc…
SRS Speakers offer better than average quality
Chicklet keyboard is a nice change!
Dell Support Centre is very effective.
Bluetooth and wifi all work very well
And finally, the 5 years warranty Harel Mallac….
You can opt NOT to take the Windows 7 OS for a Rs2K discount….

Minor issues:
Bloatware…

Cons:
Touchpad can be veryyyyy frustrating….could be a driver problem because sometimes it works perfectly….

Would i recommend someone to buy this laptop?
DEFINITELY….but buy a mouse also…. xD

Hi,

There are a number of Dell resellers in Mauritius e.g. Harel Mallac and Maudell. I guess you just have to ask the shops where you see Dell computers whether they are official resellers. Ask for a certificate or something.

In principle, official resellers sell both new and refurbished computers and they also repair them.

How can we be sure they are not refurbished?

Are all resellers qualified to repair the laptops?

The Hero has been replaced by the Desire (and Desire HD) which are both very good at tethering.

I bought my Google Nexus One from the USA. AFAIK, it’s not available here in Mauritius. As a Google phone, it gets all the updates over the air (OTA). Mine runs 2.3.4. Internally, it’s an HTC Desire.

The Samsungs are also great.
